Description

This module aims to:
Introduce students to the economic analysis of some important social issues, with complementary insights from psychology, sociology and behavioural economics; Develop students' knowledge of microeconomic and microeconometric analysis within the context of social and public policy issues;
Develop critical reasoning skills. While the exact content of the course is constantly changing due to new social issues arising, examples of topics that are being examined are: measuring and exploring well-being; the formation of and inequality in preferences, cognitive and non-cognitive skills; the impact of markets on moral values; crime; social status and herd behaviour; climate change; retirement savings and funding old age.
